Protecting Local Services
Local services are part of everyday life.
People want the basics to work. They want to see a GP when they need one, find an NHS dentist, drive on decent roads, use reliable buses and access local banking services without having to travel miles.
When those services disappear or fail, daily life gets harder.
That is what Graham hears from residents across East Yorkshire.
Getting the basics right
Good local services make a real difference.
They help older residents stay independent. They help families manage busy lives. They help people get to work, school, appointments and the shops. They keep towns and villages connected.
But when a service is lost, the burden falls on residents.
A closed bank can mean a longer journey for older people and small businesses.
A cancelled bus can mean missing work, college or a hospital appointment.
A flooded road can leave homes, farms and businesses at risk.
A pothole left unrepaired can damage cars and make roads less safe.
Graham believes residents should not have to shout for months just to get the basics taken seriously.
Graham’s record:
Graham has been standing up for local services because they affect daily life here.
He has:
- Expanded village street surgeries so residents can raise issues where they live
- Worked with residents, parish councils and local groups on flooding and sewage concerns, including in Keyingham
- Campaigned for proper access to banking services, including banking hubs where local branches have closed
- Raised NHS access, corridor care and local health concerns in Parliament
- Backed residents calling for better roads, safer streets and more reliable basic services
- Worked closely with parish councils across Beverley and Holderness so local problems are heard and followed up
- What Graham will keep campaigning for
Graham’s focus is simple: protect local services, get the basics working and make sure residents are not ignored when something goes wrong.
He will keep campainging for:
- Better access to GPs, NHS dentists and local health services
- Action on flooding, sewage and drainage problems that affect homes, roads and businesses
- Roads that are repaired properly, not patched and left to fail again
- Banking services that remain accessible to older residents, small businesses and people who need face-to-face support
- Public transport that works for rural communities, not just big towns and cities
- Stronger links with parish councils, community groups and residents
Graham will keep listening to residents through street surgeries, village visits, surveys and local meetings.
He will keep raising these issues with councils, Ministers, service providers and Parliament until residents get answers.
