Graham will be on Keyingham Village Green from 11am to noon on Saturday 27th June, working with Keyingham Parish Council, Sean McMaster and Lyn Healing, so residents can raise local concerns face to face.

Graham has held hundreds of street surgeries over the years. They give residents the chance to speak to him directly, raise concerns without needing a formal appointment, and make sure local issues are heard.

The street surgery follows recent work in Keyingham after residents raised serious concerns about flooding, overflowing drains and sewage problems.

Graham was first notified of the issue by Cllr Sean McMaster. He then wrote to residents, met them in the village, and requested a joined-up meeting with Yorkshire Water, the Environment Agency, East Riding Council and local representatives.

Saturday 27th June’s surgery will give residents another chance to speak directly to Graham, Sean McMaster and Lyn Healing about flooding, drainage and sewage concerns, as well as any other local issues they want to raise.

Graham has taken the same approach on other issues raised by local people. He has raised the fivefold business rates increase facing Long Riston Services, the family petrol station that has served the community since the 1940s. He has spoken up for Jack in the Box in Beverley after the family venue was hit by a £27,000 business rates rise. He has met employers at Tickton Grange to hear how rising costs are affecting hospitality and local jobs.

Graham is also working closely with the Clean Air Action Group to make sure residents in Walkington, Beswick and Lockington have their voices heard over the impact of large energy developments on rural communities.

Graham said: “Street surgeries are about listening properly.

“I have held hundreds over the years because they give people a simple way to have their say, raise local problems and know they are being listened to.

“I will be on Keyingham Village Green from 11am to noon on Saturday 27th June with Sean McMaster and Lyn Healing, working with Keyingham Parish Council.

“Flooding, drains and sewage are serious concerns in Keyingham, and I want to hear directly from residents. But this surgery is also for any local issue people want to raise.

“This is how I try to work. Listen locally, act on the evidence, and push for delivery.

“I am grateful to Keyingham Parish Council, Sean McMaster and Lyn Healing for working with me on this. Please come and speak to us on Saturday 27th June.”

Sean McMaster said: “Street surgeries are one of the best ways for residents to raise issues directly and informally.

“We are pleased Graham is coming to Keyingham and working with the Parish Council, Lyn and me to make sure people can have their say.

“Graham has held hundreds of these over the years, and it is clear he values them because they keep politics rooted in real local concerns.”

Lyn Healing said: “Residents often know exactly what the problems are, but they need someone to listen and help get the right people around the table.

“That is why street surgeries matter. They give people a simple way to speak up about flooding, drains, sewage or any other local concern.

“We are fortunate that Graham enjoys getting out into villages and speaking to residents face to face. I hope as many people as possible come along on Saturday 27th June.”
