Jocks Lodge Junction

The Jocks Lodge junction to the south of Beverley, where the A164 and A1079 meet, has for too long been a hotspot for terrible traffic and accidents. In late 2017 the East Riding of Yorkshire of Council, backed by Graham, submitted their formal bid for £40m of funding from the Department for Transport to enable a revamp of the East Riding’s busiest road intersection. The plan would introduce a remodelled roundabout, with a new pedestrian and cyclist road crossing and an extension of the dual carriageway in order to relieve congestion.

Update July 2023

East Riding of Yorkshire Council's cabinet approves funding for re-worked Jocks Lodge junction, in concert with the Department for Transport.

Update January 2023

Due to significant cost increases since the approval of the project, East Riding of Yorkshire Council is looking at ways to re-work the scheme to continue to provide the same benefits, and also to provide the congestion relief that the scheme will provide.

This has caused a delay to the start of construction. Updates will appear here in due course.

Update July 2020

Planning permission for the scheme has been approved, costing £62 million, with a Department for Transport contribution of £41 million.

Work is expected to start on site in 2022 and finish in 2026.
