Three admits Aldbrough mobile coverage problem after residents raise concerns with Graham

Residents in Aldbrough have secured an admission from Three that coverage in the village is not providing the service customers should expect after concerns were raised with Graham Stuart MP.

The issue was first brought to Graham’s attention by local residents who reported poor signal, dropped calls and unreliable mobile coverage across the village.

One resident told Graham that calls frequently fail, go straight to voicemail or cut out altogether, preventing doctors and nurses from reliably making important medical calls.

Another resident raised concerns that during power cuts both their internet landline and mobile coverage can fail, potentially leaving people unable to contact the emergency services.

After hearing from residents, Graham raised the matter directly with Three.

In its response, Three acknowledged that coverage in Aldbrough is not currently providing the level of service it would expect. The company said local topography is affecting signal strength in the village and confirmed its network team is assessing options to improve coverage.

Graham has now written back seeking further details on what improvements are being considered and when residents can expect action. He has also contacted other mobile network operators to establish whether further improvements can be made in the area.

Graham said:

“Residents came to me with concerns about poor mobile coverage in Aldbrough and I promised to take the issue up directly with the companies involved.

“For many people, a mobile phone is their main way of staying in touch with family, accessing services or calling for help in an emergency.

“What particularly concerned me were reports from residents who have struggled to receive important medical calls and concerns about people being left unable to contact the emergency services during power cuts.

“I am pleased that Three has acknowledged there is a problem, but residents now need to see action.

“I have asked Three to explain exactly what improvements are being considered and when residents can expect to see them delivered. I have also contacted the other major operators to see what more can be done.

“I will continue pressing the mobile operators until we get a clear plan to improve coverage and a better service for people living in Aldbrough.”

Residents who have experienced poor mobile coverage can share their experiences, support the campaign and find out more here.
