My constituents have been writing to me about the UK’s relationship with the EU.
I understand that there are still strong feelings about the referendum and I appreciate that some will continue to disagree about whether leaving the EU was the right decision. However, I think most people in the UK share my view that the decision to leave cannot and should not be reversed. Indeed, 52 per cent of the UK public voted to leave the EU in an election that both sides agreed was an opportunity for a once in a generation decision.
For this reason, I believe it is essential that the UK Government continues to capitalise on the opportunities Brexit allows us: taking back control of our borders, waters and money; and offering us the freedom to regulate and legislate in a way that works for businesses across the UK.
