Childcare providers in Beverley and Holderness will receive a 30.9% increase in their hourly childcare payments for children aged two and a 6.8% increase in payments for children aged three and four.

Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, is thrilled at the funding boost, part of the Government’s additional investment of £204 million to deliver on the promise of making affordable childcare available for parents and carers across the UK.

Following this announcement, the average rate paid by East Riding Council for places for two-year-olds will increase from £6 per hour to £7.95 per hour, and the funding for three and four-year-olds will increase from £5.29 per hour to £5.65 per hour.

This funding boost is vital to support the childcare sector as the Government rolls out its reforms of childcare services, which includes extending 30 hours of free childcare to all children under four years old by 2025.

Education Secretary Gillian Keegan commented: “Today is a great step forward as we deliver on the largest ever expansion of childcare which will be transformational for working families and will help grow our economy.

“I want childcare to be truly affordable and available when and where parents need it. This initial investment of over £200 million will go a long way in supporting the fantastic early years sector to prepare for the expansion of free childcare hours available to parents next year.”

Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart said: “Parents and carers across Beverley and Holderness should all have access to high quality, affordable childcare.

“I am delighted that childcare providers in Beverley and Holderness will receive a huge increase of up to 30.9% in hourly payments for the children they care for.

“This will give parents the peace of mind that their child is well looked after while they are at work.”
