Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, is delighted that an additional £2.2 million of investment has been announced for schools in in the East Riding.

Every state school in Beverley and Holderness will receive additional funding as part of the Government’s £2 billion investment in our country’s schools.

A typical primary school will receive approximately £35,000 in extra funding while secondary schools will receive on average an additional £200,000. Schools can spend this additional funding based on what is best for their teachers and students.

The remainder of the £2 billion increase in funding will be used to increase Pupil Premium funding rates, which are increased by 5% in 2024. This extra funding will support disadvantaged pupils, local authorities’ high needs budgets, and special schools. As a result every child with special educational needs and disabilities will receive the high quality education and support they deserve.

Education Secretary, Gillian Keegan said: “I am hugely grateful to all our fantastic teachers, school leaders and support staff for all their incredible work and the immeasurable impact they have on the lives of children every day.

“Teachers must continue to have the resources they need, and this extra cash will make sure that they do. With school funding set to be at its highest ever level next year, even accounting for inflation, parents everywhere can be confident schools are being supported to let teachers get on and do what they do best - teach.”

Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart said: “Our children deserve the best so it is right that the Government is ploughing a record amount of money into our schools in Beverley and Holderness.

“The £2.2 million will help our brilliant headteachers deliver the best future for our children.

“I see the results of our great teachers first-hand on a regular basis and I am delighted the Government is unlocking our children’s potential.”
