Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, welcomes the news pensioners will be receiving an additional £300 in their bank accounts very soon to help them with the cost of living.
Many people in Beverley and Holderness are worrying about how much their energy bills will be this winter. To help with these rising costs, the Government is giving pensioners an extra £300 which will come from the DWP as part of their annual Winter Fuel Payment. More than 25,000 pensioners across Beverley and Holderness will benefit from this help, which is excellent news as we need to do all we can to support the most vulnerable in society.
Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, said: “I welcome the news that more than 25,000 pensioners in Beverley and Holderness will be receiving an additional £300 from this week. This decision will give pensioners much needed support this winter and is another example of the Government’s commitment to protect the most vulnerable from rising prices.”
Commenting on this announcement. Mel Stride, the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, said: “We know the pressures pensioners across the county are facing which is why we are providing all pensioner households with an additional £300 on top of their Winter Fuel Payments to heat their homes and stay warm this winter.”
