Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness has gained confirmation from MS3 CEO Guy Martin that the company will cease its plans to erect new telegraph poles in Hedon and Preston’s conservation areas, pending discussions with the Town and Parish councils.
Protection of conservation areas had been a key concern and Graham is delighted that, following meetings with MS3, the telecommunications wholesaler has paused its work in conservation areas and will work hand in hand with local authorities to only erect poles in a sympathetic, limited way. If it cannot come to an agreement, it will not provide access to its broadband network in those areas.
If residents are aware of any telegraph poles being planned in a conservation area, they should raise the matter with MS3 (https://www.ms3networks.co.uk/help-faq, [email protected]).
Following problems with its complaints procedure, MS3 has improved how it deals with community complaints and, indeed, MS3 has said that it has delayed the rollout to reply to the hundreds of complaints received so far.
In order to protect our streets, Graham is working with MS3, KCOM and other providers to encourage them to work together to share infrastructure.
Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart said: “I don’t want to see our streets cluttered with telegraph poles, and that’s why I’ve been working with MS3 and KCOM to encourage sharing of infrastructure.
“I know that residents are particularly concerned about poles in conservation areas and I’m delighted that MS3 has now committed to work with local authorities to make sure that any poles in those areas are sympathetic and limited. If not, they shouldn’t be going up at all.”
Guy Miller, CEO of MS3, said: "MS3 have listened to the concerns of residents and are prioritising the deployment of new telegraph poles in non-conservation areas.
“We are re-evaluating all designs in conservation areas and will continue to work with the Street Works and Planning teams within the local authorities, to agree suitable solutions”.
