Graham Stuart MP with South East Holderness Councillors

Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, together with ERYC Ward Councillors for South East Holderness, Councillors Healing, Holmes and McMaster, had a successful meeting with LINK to discuss their plans for a new Banking Hub in Withernsea.

During the meeting Graham raised the importance of a plan being in place to ensure the Banking Hub opens immediately after the Lloyds branch shuts. He also received assurances that the Hub would be open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and that each of the major banks would be available in the branch one day a week to provide face to face support to their customers.

Cash Access UK, the organisation responsible for setting up the Banking Hub, will be working with the South East Holderness ward councillors over the coming months to identify suitable premises for the Hub which meets the needs of people in Withernsea.

As a rural community, the bank provides essential services to residents who are not able to bank online, and to businesses who cannot make digital payments. To ensure people in Withernsea still have access to a range of high-quality banking services, a new Banking Hub will be opened by LINK by March 2024. This will be a shared facility that customers of any of the major banks can use to deposit and withdraw cash over the counter in the Hub.

After the meeting Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart said: “It is vital every person and business in Withernsea has access to banking facilities that are high quality and easy to access.

“I was encouraged by the plans we were presented with during the meeting which will ensure this will remain the case following the closure of Lloyds.

“Over the coming months I will continue to work with the dedicated South East Holderness councillors to make sure the needs of everyone in Withernsea are always at the front and centre of this project.”

Councillor Lyn Healing, ward Councillor for South East Holderness, commented: “After our meeting with Link we as ward councillors did feel more positive regarding the banking hub planned for Withernsea and we are cautiously optimistic though we will be following any transition closely and raise any concerns we or residents may have going forward.”
