Spring Statement: Cuts to benefits

My constituents have contacted me with concerns about the Labour government's cuts to benefits.

The Conservative Party has been vocal in its opposition to the new government’s welfare cuts, which will disproportionately affect vulnerable groups, including those with disabilities and low-income families. Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has condemned the government’s plans as chaotic, emphasizing the need for a more balanced and fair strategy that does not push more people into poverty.

The Conservatives are advocating for alternative measures that focus on economic growth and job creation rather than cutting benefits. Supporting businesses and creating employment opportunities will ultimately reduce the need for welfare support and improve the overall economy

Personally, I will be continuing to do all I can to hold this government to account for its poor decision making, and support the most vulnerable members of our society in Beverley and Holderness against these terrible changes.
