Campaign Responses

Graham receives many campaign emails from residents concerned about national issues. They are similar in content and so he publishes his responses on this website so you can see his position on each of them. You may also like to take a look at the relevant Government department’s website, where there is far more information on the many issues raised. You can find them here: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations

Graham aims to have his response to a new campaign up on the website within a week of receiving the first one.

If you are a resident and cannot see Graham’s reply to a campaign email you sent over a week ago, please let him know by writing to [email protected].

Gaza Ceasefire

My Conservative colleagues and I have been consistently clear that we want to see an end to the conflict in Gaza. As you know, the President of the United States brokered a 20‑point plan to end the war in the Middle East.

Fireworks

The majority of those who use fireworks do so in a responsible and safe manner.

Proportional Property Tax

Firearms Licensing

The last Government decided, before publishing its consultation in 2023, to not to seek views on recommendations to align shotgun and firearms legislation.

Business Rate Changes for Pubs

The previous Government introduced a new duty system in 2023 which was the biggest reform of duties for more than 140 years and was based on common sense principles of applying duty based on the strength of alcohol to simplify the duty system for businesses and meet public health objectives.

Autumn Budget Priorities

Wealth taxes are a damaging and impractical policy that would harm Britain’s economy at a critical time. There is a reason why Dennis Healey, Labour Chancellor from 1974–1979, said that “we had committed ourselves to a wealth tax; but in five years I found it impossible to draft one which would yield

ECHR

The UK’s membership of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) has become a serious obstacle to democratic accountability. The ECHR was founded in the aftermath of the Second World War with Britain’s leadership, and its original aim - to protect basic liberties from tyranny - is one we all val

COP30 and Deforestation

COP30 must be used to confront the global challenge of deforestation and its impact on food security.According to The Times, the Government has blocked the publication of a report showing that, if tropical forests are lost, food prices could rise - including for UK consumers.

Digital ID

Mandatory digital ID cards are a cynical gimmick to distract from the Government’s recent scandals and disastrous efforts to counter illegal immigration.Keir Starmer wants us to believe that a mandatory digital ID card will solve his migration mess. It will not.
