Heating Oil Prices in Beverley and Holderness

Many homes across Beverley and Holderness rely on heating oil to keep warm.

Graham has started hearing concerns from residents about the cost of heating oil and what may happen to prices in the coming months.

People should not be paying through the nose through no fault of their own.

Graham is acting on this and raising the issue in Westminster, asking what plans the Government has in place should prices rise again.

Across the UK around 1.5 million homes rely on heating oil, many of them in rural communities. Unlike mains gas and electricity customers, households using heating oil are not protected by the energy price cap and often have limited ability to compare prices between suppliers.

Claire Coutinho, the Shadow Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, has written to the Government calling for action to protect heating oil users. She is asking ministers to introduce greater price transparency in the heating oil market, requiring suppliers to publish their prices so customers can compare costs more easily.

She has also called on the Competition and Markets Authority to investigate the market and ensure it is working fairly for consumers.

Tell Graham what you are paying

Graham wants to hear directly from residents about their experiences.

If you rely on heating oil, please take a moment to share what you are currently paying. The more information gathered locally, the stronger the case that can be made to ensure rural households are treated fairly.

Please fill in the short survey below.

Oil buying cooperatives

Many communities reduce costs by joining oil buying cooperatives, where neighbours combine orders to secure lower prices.

One example locally is the Humber and Wolds Rural Action oil buying cooperative:

If you know anyone locally who relies on heating oil, please consider sharing this page with them so they can share their experience too.

Don’t risk Hull Trains: protecting our direct link to London

Thursday, 26 March, 2026
Hull and East Yorkshire were a forgotten part of the rail network. Hull Trains put that right, connecting the great port city of Hull, and indeed Beverley, directly to London. It is also one of the most popular train services in the whole country.I am pleased to hear what the Minister has said.
