Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness and founder of CADEY, is celebrating the installation of defibrillators in Skeffling and Elstronwick, part-funded by CADEY.
Graham, accompanied by CADEY Committee members, Help for Health – the charity which part-funded the defibrillators – the Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and the Smile Foundation will visit the sites of both defibrillators on Friday morning:
9am Yew Tree Farm, Southfield Road, Elstronwick HU12 9BP
11am Skeffling Village Hall, HU12 0UX
Graham said “When I founded CADEY in the spring of 2018, Yorkshire Ambulance Service identified around 60 rural communities in Beverley and Holderness which would benefit from a defibrillator. The good news is that now we’re down to around 36. Clearly there’s still more work to be done to get these life-saving devices into every community, and CADEY is determined to see this happen. When someone suffers a cardiac arrest there’s not long in which to get a defibrillator on them and possibly save a life; every second counts, which is why we need Beverley and Holderness covered in defibrillators. CADEY in partnership with Help for Health is able to part-fund a defibrillator package worth around £1,400. Please look on the campaigns page of my website grahamstuart.com to see the list of communities which we don’t think have yet got a defibrillator.
“The CADEY partnership of Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Help for Health and the Smile Foundation are delighted to be visiting Elstronwick and Skeffling to congratulate the parish councillors in person for their great work in identifying the need for a defibrillator for their communities and raising the funds for one. We hope our visit will also raise awareness of the location of these vital devices so that, if the worst happens, residents know where to go to get the defibrillator. They’re really easy to use, you don’t need any training, you can’t hurt someone, but you could save their life.”
