Following reports that Humberside Police is considering relocating Beverley Police Station from its current location on New Walk to buildings currently occupied by the Council in Register Square, Graham is encouraging people to have their say on the station’s proposed relocation.
Graham met Police and Crime Commissioner Jonathan Evison to hear the case for the relocation, which is primarily about making the police more visible in Beverley.
Graham is concerned about access to Block D, which is via a one-way street, and accessibility to the police counter, which seems to be behind barriers and key card-controlled doors.
While Graham isn’t convinced that the proposals will improve safety in Beverley, Jonathan Evison has made it clear that this isn’t a done deal and that he’ll take the views of residents very seriously when making this decision.
Residents can tell their Police and Crime Commissioner their views here.
Graham said, “We all deserve to have our say on how our communities are kept safe, and I’m delighted that Jonathan Evison has committed to listening to Beverley residents.
“We need our police to be accessible and, having seen the site at Register Square, I’m not convinced it will be as accessible to people in and around Beverley.
“New Walk seems to be a great location for a police station – close enough to the town centre, with great parking, with quick access to the main road.
“We have the best police force in the country and the best police commissioner and it’s right that Jonathan wants to listen to what you have to say.
“So make sure you have your say by filling out Jonathan’s survey today!
