Graham launches petition to Keep Our Pensioners Warm

Graham has launched a petition to save the Winter Fuel Allowance for those with pensions of only £218.15 a week.

The £200 Winter Fuel Allowance was part of the previous Conservative Government’s achievement in slashing pensioner poverty.

This week, the Chancellor announced that she intends to scrap the Winter Fuel allowance for around 10 million pensioners.

Graham, a long-time champion of older people, is disappointed with this decision and has written to the Chancellor to encourage her to reverse this decision.

He is working closely with Age UK to make sure pensioners do not suffer unnecessarily from this cut.

Graham said: “I’ve always said that older people, who have paid into the system for their whole lives, deserve support in retirement.

“Who could forget the previous Labour government’s derisory 75p increase in the state pension, especially when compared to the over £3,700 increase in the State Pension from 2010-2024?

“I’ll fight for pensioners and to do that, I’ll need your help.

“Please sign my petition and make our voice as loud as possible in stopping this callous and parsimonious move from the new Chancellor.”
