Local MP Graham Stuart is pleased 8800 people in Beverley and Holderness will receive their next Cost of Living Payment in the coming weeks.
Last year the Government announced they would be giving three payments of £300 to people on means-tested benefits to help them cope with rising prices. These payments make up part of the Government’s record financial support for the most vulnerable worth an average of £3300 per household.
Eligible residents received their first payment in January and they can expect to receive the second £300 payment in their bank account between 31st October and 19th November. They will receive the third payment in Spring next year.
This is just one example of the extraordinary support the Government is providing to help people increase their incomes during this challenging time. Another example is that following a £34 million funding boost from the Government, another 8000 people will be able to enrol in a Skills Bootcamp over the next two years.
As Graham learned during his recent visit to Beverley Job Centre, these courses will equip local people with the skills they need to either find a job or progress in their current one, whether this be in engineering, health and social care or HGV driving.
Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, said: “Halving inflation and getting price rises under control is the best way to support households struggling with their bills.
“But it is also right that we are helping the most vulnerable in society, and this latest Cost of Living payment will help those struggling the most.”
Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart commented: “Many of my constituents are struggling financially during this cost of living crisis. I understand how hard it must be to make ends meet when inflation is hiking up the costs of everyday items. That's why I’m really pleased 8,800 of my least well off constituents will receive this £300 cost of living payment. It could make all the difference to a household.”
