Following reports in the Daily Mail of a rubbish pile on Thorneycroft Road in Thorngumbald, Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart has been working with East Riding of Yorkshire Council to get this pile cleared.
Following a meeting on Tuesday afternoon, the Council has committed to sorting out this public health risk as soon as possible.
Graham visited the house with local councillors John Dennis and Sue Steel on Friday afternoon, speaking to a resident about the unacceptable public health risk.
Graham will keep local residents informed about the pile and is certain the council will resolve this as quickly as they can.
Commenting, Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart said: “It’s never OK to put your neighbours at risk, which is exactly what is happening on Thorneycroft Road with this rubbish pile.
“That’s why I’m pleased East Riding Council responded quickly when I got in contact with them, and I have every confidence that this pile will be a thing of the past as soon as the Council can arrange it. Although I understand it’s quite a complex situation.
“It’s not acceptable that this has gone on for two years, but I’m pleased it was brought to my attention, and we will get it sorted.”
