Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, met the Global Ambassadors at Leven Primary School to learn more about the brilliant work they do to help people in Leven and around the world.
The Global Ambassadors programme is comprised of two students from each year group from Year 1 to Year 6. Their job is to find exciting ways to help people in need both in Leven and in different countries around the world. They told Graham about the bake sale they organised just a couple of days before his visit to raise money for Christian Aid and why it is important for us to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
Graham was also given a tour of the school by the Assistant Headteacher Leanne Hansell and two of the Global Ambassadors, Jaxon and Bobby. He saw the children’s excellent artwork, their spacious outdoor play area and their refurbished library. The pupils asked Graham some interesting questions, including what countries he had visited as Climate Minister and about some of the interesting people he has met during his time as an MP.
Leven Primary School educates 134 pupils of mixed ability aged 4-11 years old from across Leven and Catwick. They were rated ‘Good’ at their last OFSTED inspection in March 2020 and were praised for the support they give to their early years pupils and the great behaviour of their pupils.
Leanne Hansell, Assistant Head of Leven Primary School, commented: “It was fantastic to host Gaham at our school. Our Ambassadors loved telling him about their great work to help others and the children were really engaged in his work as their MP as he visited their lessons.”
Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart said: “The Global Ambassadors are a fantastic example to us all that we must be kind and help others. It was inspiring to hear about their work in the community and to answer all the pupils’ engaging questions about my role as their MP. The staff and children are great assets to Leven.”
