Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, has expressed residents’ concerns to Northern Powergrid after being notified of power cuts occurring in Hedon.
Northern Powergrid have informed Graham that, on 21st March, there was a permanent fault on the network which was switched out of service as a result. At first it was thought that this was the cause of the power cuts, however this turned out not to be the case as there were two further short duration interruptions on the 25th and 28th March.
In response to these ongoing issues, Northern Powergrid installed fault finding equipment and have located the problem to a high voltage underground cable. While this is being fixed, Hedon residents, particularly those living in the HU12 postcode area, may experience further short power cuts.
If you, or someone you know requires extra support during a power cut due to your medical or personal circumstances, let Northern Powergrid know by joining their free Priority Service Register. To find out more call 0800 169 2996 or visit www.northernpowergrid.com/care.
Councillor John Dennis, ward Councillor for South West Holderness, commented: “I have had lots of calls and emails about these power cuts and I’ve even experienced them myself at home. Power has been rerouted temporarily whilst the cable is repaired and Powergen apologise to everyone in Hedon who has been affected.”
Graham Stuart said: “I have also been in contact with Northern Powergrid after hearing from people in Hedon about the power cuts they are experiencing. Working together with John and the other fantastic South West Holderness ward Councillors we will do our best to get it fixed for everyone as quickly as possible.”
