Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, visited Sandhill Garden Centre in Preston which has over 60 years’ experience catering for their customers’ gardening needs.
Sandhill Garden Centre is a family-owned business in Preston run by Steve Johnson, the third generation family member. They sell a range of gardening equipment including furniture, garden tools and houseplants. Maria, their on-site florist, creates elegant bouquets and their warm and spacious café is the perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee.
Graham was joined on his visit by the South West Holderness ward councillors Sue Steel, John Dennis and David Winter. They were given a tour of the centre by Steve who showed them the expansive greenhouse, coffee shop and amazing variety of products which help people in Preston and the surrounding areas create beautiful gardens.
Steve Johnson, the owner of Sandhill Garden Centre, said: "I was pleased to give our local MP, Graham Stuart, and the South West Holderness Ward Councillors a tour of our garden centre and show them the seasonal changes taking place. It is great that they take the time to learn more about local businesses in Preston."
Following their visit, the South West Holderness Councillors said: “In South Holderness the vast range of Sandhill’s gardening-based products, other fancy goods and the well-known café are popular with residents. Cllr John Dennis has a close family connection and has been a regular customer since coming to Hedon in the 1960’s. Together with Cllrs Sue Steel and David Winter, the three Ward Members are pleased to recognise and congratulate this successful and long-established local concern.”
After his tour of the garden centre, Graham commented: “It was a real pleasure to visit the superb Sandhill Garden Centre and meet Steve to see how he is continuing his family’s legacy to help everyone create beautiful gardens in Preston and beyond.”
