Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, attended Beaver Park on Saturday to watch Beverley RUFC play Old Rishworthian.
Founded in 1883, Beverley RUFC is a rugby union club based in Beverley that plays its home games at Beaver Park. They have three senior teams and have created new youth teams in recent years for children aged 5 to 17 years old to give them the opportunity to play rugby.
Prior to the game, Graham took a moment alongside the rest of the supporters to pay tribute to the late Kevin Dean who very sadly passed away last week. Kevin was one of Beverley’s greatest players and, most importantly, a wonderful person. He will be greatly missed by so many across Beverley.
At the time of writing this, the club has also announced the very sad news that one of their Under 10’s coaches, John Massey, passed away on Monday. John was an enthusiastic and committed member of the team in which his son Angus played. He will be missed by everyone at Beverley RUFC and Graham sends his condolences to his family, Karen, Maura and Angus, following their loss.
During the match, Graham cheered on Beverley alongside South West Holderness Councillors Sue Steel, John Dennis and David Winter as they produced some great tries. It was a closely fought game but unfortunately Beverley lost 39-25 to a strong Old Rishworthian team.
Following the game, Graham said: “I enjoyed watching Beverley play some great rugby against a strong Old Rishworthian side. It was a great game and I encourage everyone in Beverley to buy a ticket to support our local team.”
