Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, has congratulated John Duggleby on being named the Constituency Winner from Beverley and Holderness for the National Farmers’ Union’s (NFU) Community Champion Awards.
The NFU Community Champion Awards gives MPs an opportunity to celebrate the important role that farmers play in their constituencies. MPs are asked to nominate a farmer in their constituency who has supported their community during hard times, provided services beyond farming to the community and helped people to enjoy the farmed landscape.
Graham nominated John for this award because he has been a passionate champion for the farming industry over the last three decades and has consistently supported the local community during difficult times. John is always very generous with giving his time to the activities of the National Farmers Union and shares his technical and historical knowledge of the local farmland to help others.
After being told that he will be receiving this award, John said: “I am very pleased to receive this award and would like to thank Graham for nominating me. Farming is a very important and enjoyable part of my life and I look forward to continuing working with my fellow farmers in Beverley and Holderness although I envisage retiring from all this at my age - I have seen in my lifetime too many old codgers stuck in the way.”
Graham Stuart also commented: “I am delighted that John has won this award. He is a great asset to Beverley and Holderness and the British farming industry. Congratulations John!”
