Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, is delighted with the announcement that Hornsea 2 has been declared the world’s largest offshore wind farm.
Located approximately 55 miles off the Yorkshire coast, Orsted’s Hornsea 2 Project is now fully operational. This wind farm comprises 165 wind turbines and has a capacity of over 1.3GW which will provide power to more than 1.4 million homes. In conjunction with its sister project Hornsea 1, the two projects can power a total of 2.5 million homes and make a significant contribution to the Government’s target of having 50GW offshore win in operation by the end of the decade.
This important project is the latest addition in an array of environmentally sustainable projects which are located or currently being built in the Yorkshire and Humber region. These include: H2H Saltend, Dogger Bank Wind Farm and Drax Power Station. Together these projects will help the UK achieve its aim of being Net Zero by 2050.
Following the announcement, Graham commented: “I am delighted that Hornsea 2 is now fully operational. I know it will play a vital role in improving the UK’s energy security and help make Yorkshire and the Humber a global leader for green investment and innovation.”
