Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, has welcomed the Government's announcement that grants have been awarded to three new grassroots sporting facilities across Beverley and Holderness.

Projects across the area will receive £44,938 to improve facilities and increase participation in the respective towns and villages. In Beverley Rural, Newbald Junior FC will receive £23,715 for new maintenance machinery. Hornsea Town FC has been awarded £20,248 to purchase machinery and Patrington AFC has been awarded £975 for new goalposts.

This funding demonstrates the Government’s commitment to make more high-quality facilities available for people to play football, hockey and other grassroots sports. By doing so, more people will be able to enjoy the huge physical and mental health benefits associated with playing sport.

Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer commented: “We are committed to levelling up access to sport which is so important for the nation’s physical and mental health.

“Today we are delivering more than 1700 new and improved grassroots sports facilities across the UK to continue to support, sustain and grow community and grassroots sport – so that physical activity is accessible to all, no matter a person’s background or location.”

Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart said: “I know that our community sport clubs will get a massive boost from this funding which will improve sporting facilities in Hornsea, Patrington and Newbald. We are all aware of the power of sport to bring us together and it is great there will be more opportunities to do this across Beverley and Holderness.
