Dear Sir,
On Thursday 4th May we will have the opportunity to elect the councillors who will represent us for the next four years. They will do important work which affects all our lives, which is why I believe it is vital we elect the best people for our area.
Great councils are the bedrock of our communities and make so many aspects of our lives better. They keep our streets clean by dealing with litter and collecting our bins on time. They fill potholes in our roads to ensure we can get to work, school and the shops safely. When new projects are proposed, they fight to maximise the benefits for our community.
I encourage everyone to take time over the next week to find out more about the councillors standing in our area. Find out what their priorities are, how they will pay for key services and what their views are on the issues that matter to you.
When I meet people across Beverley and Holderness, sometimes they ask me what impact their vote can have. Your vote is a chance to have your say about the type of place you want to live in. You get to influence how the money you pay in council tax each month is spent in our area. Then, if the council does something you don’t like, it gives you the right to complain.
On Thursday 4th May you can vote at your polling station between 7am-10pm. Please remember to bring photo ID as this will be required to vote and there is more information on East Riding Council’s website about what you need to bring.
I hope that everyone in Beverley and Holderness will take the time on Thursday 4th May to have their say and elect candidates who will work tirelessly to fight for what is best for you.
Yours faithfully,
Graham Stuart MP
