The location of the new Hedon Cash Hub has now been confirmed following discussions between Cash Access UK, local partners and Graham.
The Cash Hub will be located on the first floor of Hedon Library, in the centre of the high street. Step-free access will be provided by a lift.
Every realistic option on the high street was explored. Other premises were ruled out because they were too small, insecure, poorly heated, or would have caused queues spilling into shops and onto the pavement.
Graham raised concerns about the hub being on the first floor, particularly for older residents and those with mobility issues. Cash Access UK confirmed that similar first-floor hubs with lift access are already operating successfully elsewhere and are well used.
Cash Access UK has signed a one-year lease to use the library space so the hub can open without delay. If a better long-term location becomes available, businesses and property owners are encouraged to contact Graham’s office so it can be considered.
Keeping the hub in the centre of Hedon matters. Many residents and businesses still rely on cash. Local access to withdrawals and deposits helps keep money circulating on the high street and supports shops, cafés and services.
The hub will open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. It will provide counter services for both withdrawals and deposits. Lloyds has confirmed in writing that its Hedon branch will remain open until 25 March to avoid any gap in access.
Graham is encouraging businesses to display posters and clear signage so residents know where to go from day one.
This follows months of sustained pressure after Hedon was initially refused any cash hub provision. Graham challenged the decision and secured this outcome with the backing of more than 2,000 local residents and councillors from both the Conservatives and Labour.
Graham said: “The priority was keeping access to cash in the centre of Hedon. This location is accessible, open five days a week, and close to the businesses that depend on it. Without the campaign and strong local support, Hedon would have lost its banking services altogether. Now we need to get it open and make sure it is used.”
