Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, has welcomed the Government’s strategy to unleash rural opportunities across Beverley and Holderness.
The Government’s new rural strategy, titled Unleashing Rural Opportunity, will be split across four broad themes of housing, communities, connectivity and growth. This plan will help create jobs and drive growth in rural areas.
These new innovations include: a new fund to deliver high speed broadband for up to 35,000 homes in the most remote parts of the UK, boosting the supply of new affordable housing to rent or buy in rural areas and a consultation on making it easier for farmers to change their redundant agricultural buildings into family homes.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak commented: “I have pledged to build a better future for people in this country, and our rural communities are right at the heart of that promise.
“That’s why I’m determined to make sure that their interests are front and centre of all our work to grow the economy and strengthen our communities – so that every part of our country gets the support it needs to thrive.”
Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart said: “Living in rural communities, as we do, there is always a risk of being left behind urban areas when it comes to Government attention and funding.
“There is much to be proud of in this new approach and I am writing to the relevant organisations and local Government departments to find out how they are going to be making the most of this additional support to benefit my constituents in Beverley and Holderness.”
