Holderness Health Alliance, a grouping of four GP practices in Holderness, has written to the East Riding CCG to press it to call an immediate halt to the Urgent Care review in the light of new information it has uncovered.
Last week the Holderness Alliance sent a joint letter to Jonathan Beckerlegge, Chair of the ERYCCG Audit and Integrated Governance Committee. This followed a Freedom of Information request they sent to the CCG regarding the Urgent Care Review which has been undertaken over the past few months. The Alliance remain very concerned at the outcome and the adverse effect on their patients’ care. You can click the link below to read the letter.
Graham Stuart, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Beverley & Holderness commented:
“The CCG’s decision to close the Minor Injuries Units in Hornsea and Withernsea lets down residents in the Beverley & Holderness constituency. If this decision is allowed to stand, residents will be forced to make long journeys on winding country roads to access treatment for things like cuts and sprains. This is particularly the case because many residents are elderly and have complex health needs. They are poorly equipped to travel from, for example, Withernsea to Hull or Hornsea to Beverley. An additional concern is that the upshot of removing local Minor Injuries Units will put greater pressure on both the already hard-pressed Accident and Emergency Unit at Hull Royal Infirmary and Yorkshire Ambulance Service, which would not benefit anyone and could put lives at risk.
“I was pleased that following my request the East Riding Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee referred the CCG’s decision on Urgent Care Centres to the Secretary of State on the grounds that the proposals are not in the interests of local health services and that consultation by the CCG was inadequate; a view I endorse. Having just read a copy of the Holderness Health Alliance’s letter to the CCG I was immediately struck that this is information that needs to be seen urgently by the Secretary of State, and I have written to him today accordingly.”
