Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, congratulated John Duggleby on his Regional Farming Award on Back British Farming Day.
Today is Back British Farming Day and, to mark this important occasion, the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) held an awards ceremony in Westminster to congratulate the great farmers who won the award for their contribution to their region. This morning, Graham received the wonderful news that John Duggleby won the North East Community Farming Hero Award.
Graham nominated John for this award because he has been a passionate champion for the farming industry over the last three decades and has consistently supported the local community during difficult times. John is always very generous with giving his time to the activities of the National Farmers Union and shares his technical and historical knowledge of the local farmland to help others.
NFU Regional Director, Adam Bedford, said John’s tireless work on behalf of others made him the perfect recipient of the award. “John epitomises the selfless effort we so often see our members make. There is no doubt he has made a real difference and it is great to see his contribution appreciated and recognised by Mr Stuart.”
Commenting on John’s award, Graham said: “I would like to congratulate John Duggleby on being named the North East Community Farming Hero 2022 by the National Farmers’ Union. John has been a passionate champion for the farming industry over the last three decades and has consistently supported the local community. He is a great asset to Beverley and Holderness and the British farming industry. Congratulations John!”
When asked how he felt about receiving this award, John remembered his School Headmaster urging pupils to “think of the other guy.” “That’s what I have tried to do”, he said.
