Beverley Protest

Graham is organising a second demonstration against the Labour government’s proposed cut to the Winter Fuel Payment at the Pier Towers in Withernsea on Saturday 19th October at 12 noon.

This is following significant public outcry against the decision to remove the up-to £300 payment from all pensioners on over £219 a week.

Graham has been at the forefront of opposition to the decision to cut the Winter Fuel Payment from all pensioners other than those on Pension Credit.

He has organised a petition against the cut, which has attracted over 1000 signatures and led a well-attended demonstration against the decision in Beverley last month.

He has spoken on the subject in Parliament three times since the beginning of September and has created a new campaign group, Protect Our Pensioners, which seeks to be a voice for Beverley and Holderness’s pensioners.

Most recently, on Monday 7th October, the Welfare Secretary Liz Kendall refused to tell Graham how many would die as a result of the Labour government’s decision to cut the payment.

With the Budget fast approaching, Graham is keen to see as many Withernsea residents as possible making clear that taking the Winter Fuel Payment away from some of the poorest pensioners is the wrong decision.

Graham Stuart said: “People in Withernsea are rightly outraged at the proposed cut to the Winter Fuel Payment.

“I’m looking forward to seeing many of them at the Pier Towers in Withernsea on Saturday 19th October at noon to have their voices heard loud and clear.

“The poorest in society will be paying the price for this cruel, heartless decision made without warning and without proper notice.”
