Opening of Withernsea Banking Hub 9th May 2025
Graham Stuart cutting ribbon at Withernsea Banking Hub 9th May 2025

Graham Stuart MP opened the new Banking Hub in Withernsea on Friday which will provide vital banking services to businesses and local people across the town.

When Lloyds announced in 2023 that they would be closing in Withernsea, the last bank in the town, Graham promised to protect the community’s ability to access their cash.

The first stage of this was delivered when a temporary Banking Hub opened in February 2024 at the SHoRes Centre thanks to the brilliant support of its CEO Jayne Nendick. This happened as the Lloyds branch was closing, so people in Withernsea could continue to access these services seamlessly.

While this was a step in the right direction, Graham was clear that it was a time limited solution. With the tireless support of local councillors Lyn Healing and Sean McMaster, Graham pressed Cash Access UK regularly to ensure they delivered a state of the art Hub at the heart of the town.

Graham was thrilled to cut the ribbon alongside the local councillors on Friday to declare the Banking Hub open. Located in Queen Street next to Aldi, this Hub will provide a range of vital services including cash/cheque deposits and withdrawals, the ability to pay your bills and have face to face meetings with representatives from HSBC, Lloyds, Santander, NatWest and Halifax.

Councillors Lyn Healing and Sean McMaster commented, "We were absolutely determined that this vital service would not be lost, and working alongside Graham this is what we have delivered. This is more than just a convenience - it's an asset for our community, supporting residents, local businesses and the wider economy. We wish the team at the Banking Hub the greatest success.”

Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, said, ““Since the closure of Lloyds was announced in 2023, it’s been a race against the clock to make sure Withernsea didn’t lose banking services.

“We’ve all been working hard on this – from your local councillors Lyn Healing and Sean McMaster, everyone at Cash Access UK, Jayne Nendick for offering the use of Shores while a permanent home was found and, most of all, Andrew Phipson and Tina Wilkinson at the Banking Hub itself.

“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to secure access to cash in Withernsea.”
